Fibromyalgia
According to an article in Wikipedia, fibromyalgia “is characterized by chronic widespread pain and allodynia (a heightened and painful response to pressure).”
The origin or root of the term “fibromyalgia” means “muscle and connective tissue pain”. According to some articles on the net, including these excerpts from Wikipedia, there is a lot of controversy concerning this condition:
“… there is controversy as to the cause and nature of fibromyalgia, as well as how patients are described by those with differing opinions of the disease in the medical community.”
…”The International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10) lists fibromyalgia as a diagnosable disease under “Diseases of the musculoskeletal system and connective tissue” and states that fibromyalgia syndrome should be classified as a functional somatic syndrome rather than a mental disorder. ”
But the fact is, regardless of any controversies, many people suffer from its symptoms. There are several key points on the body where FM sufferers can be very sensitive to pressure because it causes definite pain. Refer to the above image.
“I first used this product as a moisturizer, especially on my face. Soon I discontinued use of several expensive cosmetic products I had been using for years. Later I began to notice that applying Corium 21 to my ankles, knees and elbows not only moisturized them, but also eased some of the pain I experience with Fibromyalgia. Because I found this product so helpful, I talked my mother and sister into trying it as well.” – J.R.
